In the Königsbrücker Heide, the Königsbrück military training area was laid out in 1906 as the largest military training area in Saxony. After the end of the war, the area was seized and enlarged by the Soviet occupying forces. From 1990 to 1992 the Soviet Army then withdrew from Königsbrück.^[1]
