Mining at Røstvangen started in 1904 and continued until bankruptcy in 1921. The ore extracted was copper-containing sulfur. Røstvangen had a post office, a bakery, a town hall, houses, barracks, shops and even a cinema. The decommissioned Eidsfossen power station was originally built to supply the Røstvangen mines with electricity.[1]
